Spreadsheet Ninja! Boredom is a disease, and I've got the cure!

About

Hey there! My name is Ryan Barnes and I created 'Spreadsheet Ninja' to help people to not be totally bored at work. I do this by taking the every day flash games you find on the internet and embed them inside Excel spreadsheets. I started this whole website because I wanted to give people a way to play flash games at work or school and not have their network administrator get mad at them for 'hogging' bandwidth. I also did not want people to get caught playing games on the internet, so I decided that spreadsheets would be a good way to 'hide' the games they enjoyed playing.

I created this site back in 2008 to initially let my friends and co-workers have a place they could go to get all the games I was making. Often times people would email each other the games and there would be somebody new who didn't have an email account yet or didn't know anyone who would send the game to them. So I decided to throw together a quick website where everybody could go and enjoy a game or two.

Before I began this website I was a web developer and computer programmer. I taught myself HTML/CSS back when the internet was still on dial-up. Then learned Visual Basic, and am now working on finding the time to learn PHP and other emerging web technologies. To contact me, you can leave a comment below or post a comment on the facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Awesome site, thank you. However, I am using a mac pro laptop intel with OpenOffice.org , the xls game are not working. Is there anything special that I have to do?

  2. Thanks Cali!

About the OpenOffice issue, unfortunately they don't support flash inside XLS. I tried awhile back to create an open office version of the games here as of the latest version they don't support flash. I do keep trying to see if they change their features to allow flash from time to time.

I wish I had / knew of a work around to help you out. I think you can get a copy of Microsoft Office for the Mac though.

  3. so ninja… do you think you can get the game fantastic contraption up here??? :)

  4. Do you have a link for that game?
